Job Description
Holy Family Parish in LaPorte seeks an experienced communications professional to maintain and strengthen the parish’s social media reach and bolster effective methods in communications to parishioners.  The ideal candidate thrives by creatively utilizing tools to share the Catholic faith on online platforms.

General Staff Expectations:

  • Supports, upholds, and maintains the mission of Holy Family Parish, and serves as a role model in a positive manner and in all business interactions within the parish and to the outside community.
  • Partner with the staff, consultants and ministry members to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and budgets.
  • Maintain, display and communicate a clear understanding of the creative strategy on all projects and interactions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while weighing the importance of specific jobs and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Develop, monitor, manage and revise project scope documents, budgets, timelines and processes, keeping team abreast of changes and concerns.
  • Implement, manage and evaluate operation processes and procedures, in accordance with the standards and procedures set out by the organization.


Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Specific Task/Duties:

  • Communications
  • Create and schedule regular Flocknote messages to the parish
  • Utilize online software to create visuals to be posted both online and in physical parish spaces
  • Work with Bulletin Editor to ensure that visual communications are included in weekly bulletins
  • Film and edit weekly videos, including them in the “Weekly Update” along with a description of parish events in the upcoming week
  • Obtain minimal photography for content creation
  • Assist office staff with parish website management
  • Social Media
  • Create at least two to three visual posts per week, to be shared on parish social media (Instagram and Facebook)
  • Edit weekly “Homily Highlights” to be posted on YouTube
  • Edit weekly homily clips to be posted on Instagram
  • Other Parish Duties
  • Maintain a presence in the parish office at least one day per week
  • Be present for large parish events, especially during important liturgical seasons
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, committees, and volunteers, and representing Holy Family in public settings
  • Develop, justify, and manage a budget for the needs of communications
  • Handle other duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience:

  • Though not required to be Catholic, one must reflect the teachings of the Catholic Church in one’s public life.
  • Experience with social media and content creation is necessary.
  • Basic knowledge of Spanish, though not required, is beneficial in promoting communications in Holy Family’s bilingual community.

About the Employer

Holy Family Parish in LaPorte, Indiana, is new parish created by the union of the former Sacred Heart, St. Peter, and St. Joseph Parishes in 2021. Current ministry focuses on uniting the three communities and building a vibrant parish identity focused on being a family and forming disciples who serve.
